Attack early in large poker tournaments
When playing in large tournaments, lots of players early in the tournament will play "tight" looking for a big hand. If you can observe the players at your table doing this, you can pick up lots of pots early on by being aggressive and betting at pots even with marginal hands.
If I have J-10 suited I will raise 3-4 times big blind out of position to open a pot, when others are looking to dump their hands because they are afraid of getting hooked up against someone with a big hand. You might get a call or you may pick up the blinds right off the bat and have the table "running scared" of you.
Having others become "shrinking violets" gives you every advantage to run over them whenever you want.
