Case study: EngineRelease.com
In May 2008, Montreal Web Solutions was asked to quote for a revamp of an existing business website.

EngineRelease.com -- before
When we examined the client's site, we found several problems. The most serious was "keyword stuffing", where instead of an honest description of the company, its products and services (the single most vital aspect of any web page -- how the likes of Google find and recommend your website), they had 'stuffed' dozens of keywords there.
The idea was to attract more visitors by covering all the bases. But visitors was just what they lacked. Attempts to trick Google will have a negative effect on your long-term traffic prospects. Honest, human-friendly content, well optimized to selected keywords people use, will bring sustainable results.

EngineRelease.com -- after
That was fixed, along with a complete redesign of the site, including centre justifying the pages (very much easier to use) and a general freshening-up to make the pages look neater, cleaner and more modern.
We also added more "calls to action" -- opportunities to buy the product -- at top left (the large Money-Back image), top right, at the left in the navigation and at the end of the text on every page. This means that a reader who's virtually convinced will not have to look far to find the BUY button.
